Glucoplex provides support for glucose metabolism as well as antioxidant defence. Each capsule contains a complementary blend of thiamine, biotin, chromium, alpha-lipoid acid, n-acetyl-l-cysteine, and Ayurvedic botanical gymnema sylvestre.

Glycation is the non-enzymatic attachment of sugars to major molecules in the body, including proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. Glycation reactions generate advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) and glycotoxin intermediates, which cause abnormal and destructive functioning of these molecules. AGEs can be created endogenously, often as a consequence of excessive blood glucose levels.

Maintenance of normal blood carbohydrate levels is fundamental to preventing AGE formation. Chromium is an integral component of the glucose tolerance factor (GTF), a naturally occurring compound of chromium, nicotinic acid, and amino acids that is essential for proper glucose metabolism. Adequate chromium nutrition is essential for the formation of GTF and subsequent healthy glucose metabolism.

Biotin and thiamin serve as cofactors in carbohydrate metabolism. Biotin induces glucokinase, an enzyme that encourages cells to retain glucose for energy production rather than releasing it into the bloodstream. Thiamin pyrophosphate, a derivative of thiamin, is a key component the pentose phosphate pathway and links glycolysis to the Krebs cycle.

Oxidative stress is closely related to AGE production and is a known contributing factor to many of the same health concerns associated with AGEs. N-acetyl-l-cysteine is a potent antioxidant and serves as an intracellular precursor of glutathione. Similarly, alpha-lipoic acid can regenerate glutathione, and is soluble in both water and lipids, allowing it to neutralize free radicals nearly everywhere in the body.

Directions:

Adults: Take 1 capsule daily with a meal or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Consult your healthcare practitioner for use beyond 2 months.

Cautions:

Do not use if you are taking antibiotics or nitroglycerin.
