Homocysteine Factors provides betaine plus activated vitamin B₆, vitamin B₁₂ and folate in a highly bioavailable combination integral to supporting healthy homocysteine levels and liver function. The amino acid homocysteine is necessary for the production of lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. As it can be cytotoxic at high levels, it is metabolized to either methionine or cysteine.

Betaine promotes healthy homocysteine metabolism by donating a methyl group in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. In a recent study, a betaine-rich diet or betaine supplementation supported healthy homocysteine metabolism in both men and women. Folate is provided in this formula as Metafolin^®, the naturally occurring, universally metabolized form of folate. Both folate and vitamin B₁₂ are required by the enzyme that promotes methionine production.

Vitamin B₆ is required in the two enzymatic reactions that support cysteine formation. Lipotropic agents, including betaine, support liver function by modulating healthy hepatic fat metabolism and bile flow. Efficient processing and breakdown of fats in the liver maintain overall liver health and detoxification processes.
