In Sanskrit, Triphala means “three fruits” and true to its name, it is a blend of three fruits: Amalaki or Amla, Bibhitaki and Haritaki. Believed to restore balance to all three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, it is one of the most used tonics in Ayurveda for whole body cleansing and balancing. Triphala can be used for daily, gentle cleansing and detoxification, for promoting regularity, and for optimal digestive health. According to the energetic principles of Ayurveda, Triphala contains 5 of the 6 tastes and is sweet, sour, pungent, astringent and bitter in the Rasa taste energy, neutral in action according to Virya and balancing for Vata, Pitta and Kapha constitutional doshas, thereby bringing balance to the entire body. Take 1 teaspoon of Organic Traditions Triphala powder as a tonic once or twice daily. Add Organic Traditions Triphala powder to water, coconut water, your favourite juice or to smoothies. Add 1 teaspoon of Organic Traditions Triphala powder to your favourite smoothie recipe to create a nourishing, antioxidant rich smoothie. According to Traditional Ayurveda it is suggested to take 1 teaspoon twice daily in warm water or warm milk as a supportive tonic. Make a tea-like infusion by adding 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder to 6-8oz. of hot water. Let the water sit for 10 minutes to allow the compounds to be released. Add some honey or 1 teaspoon of Organic Traditions Yacon Syrup or Organic Traditions Coconut Palm Sugar in order to add a touch of sweetness.
