Description:

Black Walnut Capsules is a blend of herbs that are traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to help alleviate digestive disturbances. Black walnut, quassia, wormwood and gentian root all contain extremely bitter compounds, including tannins, quassin, absinthin, and amelogenin.

These bitters cause nerves on the taste buds to increase the release of saliva and gastric juices that aid in digestion. Bitters can also bind receptors on endocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas, which results in the secretion of the peptide hormone cholecystokinin. In turn, this releases bile salts and pancreatic digestive enzymes, increasing gastric motility.

Gentian root and quassia may help relieve dyspepsia by increasing prostaglandin-mediated cytoprotection in the gastric membrane; prostaglandins stimulate the release of mucous and sodium bicarbonate in the stomach. Quassia, black walnut and pumpkin seeds are also traditionally used in Herbal Medicine as a vermifuge (helps in the expulsion of parasitic worms).

Quassia (Quassia amara) Bark - 200 mg
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) Flower - 200 mg
Sweet Wormwood (Artemisia annua) Herb - 150 mg
Gentian (Gentiana lutea) Root - 100 mg
Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) Seed Extract (5:1) - 100 mg
Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) bud - 50 mg

Non-Medicinal Ingredients:
Hypromellose, stearic acid

Directions:

Take two capsules two times daily with meals, or as recommended by your health care practitioner.

Cautions:

If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your healthcare practitioner. If you are taking an anticoagulant, cardiac, hypo- and hypertensive medications, consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding; or if you have an allergy to the Asteraceae family; or if you have acute stomach irritation, inflammation, and stomach or duodenal ulcers, do not use.

Hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) has been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use. Some people may experience headaches.
